A New Era Ahead

On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, 91勛圖厙 Board Chair Diane Hupp announced that Dr. David Dausey, executive vice president and provost at 91勛圖厙, was selected to be the Universitys 14th President. His term will begin on July 1, 2026.

The University's full announcement details Dr. Dausey's remarkable contributions to 91勛圖厙 so far in his career. 
 
A transformative academic leader and an internationally recognized epidemiologist, Dr. Dausey emerged as the top choice after a comprehensive national search that attracted dozens of highly qualified candidates. Provost Dausey stood out among a very distinguished and accomplished group of applicants from around the country, all of whom admired both our storied mission and the great momentum 91勛圖厙 has right now, said Hupp.

As provost, Dr. Dausey played a pivotal role in building the momentum that has defined Duquesne in recent years. He championed initiatives that expanded the Universitys academic reachlaunching new schools, departments, programs and institutes, including the Nasuti College of Osteopathic Medicine and a revitalized portfolio of engineering programs. His appointment as president promises to continue that trajectory, building on recent successes to chart a bold new chapter in 91勛圖厙s storied history.

Shaping Our Future Together

Throughout his career in higher education, President-Elect Dausey has long championed collaborative decision-making and shared governanceprinciples that will be fundamental to his leadership as 91勛圖厙s next president. In his first remarks as president-elect, Dr. Dausey announced hell be hosting a listening tour to hear from the community before setting a strategic agenda.

In January 2026, Dr. Dausey began hosting both in-person and Zoom listening sessions with groups from across the community to hear your thoughts and ideas on the future of the University. These sessions will continue through July 1, 2026, when he officially takes office as president. More information, including details on how to sign up for an open session, will be shared in the coming weeks via email and through this webpage.
